We are just completing our first week of lessons in 2014! The students have all come back excited and refreshed after the Christmas holidays.
The new year is always a good time to re-evaluate your goals as a musician and to come up with a plan on how to achieve them. A huge advantage of private music lessons is that your lesson is about YOU! Whatever it is that YOU want to learn, your teacher can customize your lesson to help you accomplish that. Of course, a lot also depends on what you do outside your lesson too. The more you practice, perform, and perfect the assignments your teacher gives you, the faster you will achieve your musical dream!
What musical goals do you have for 2014? One of mine is to continue to work on my singing technique. I find that many times, I am a “lazy” singer. I have a golden opportunity each week as I coach my students to improve my own singing at the same time! I can sing the warm-ups along with them and work on my vowel shape, tone production, and breathing. It’s really a fantastic set up for me to become an even better singer.
I hope that 2014 will be a great Musical year for all of our clients at the Academy! Be sure to let your teacher know what projects you want to work on, what songs you want to learn, and what you want your musical journey to look like!
